• On October 9, 2012, Republican members of the House Commerce Committee sent a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requesting information about its new Office of Energy Infrastructure Security (OEIS). The members ask 16 questions, including what is the scope of OEIS jurisdiction, whether OEIS will perform functions not presently performed by FERC, and what is the anticipated budget for OEIS.   • On October 10, 2012, Sen. John “Jay” Rockefeller, D-W.Va., Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, sent letters to nine data brokers, including Equifax and Acxiom, about the consumer data that they compile and sell. Sen. Rockefeller posed 12 questions, among which are the type of consumer data products sold since January 1, 1999, and whether the entities inform consumers that their data will be sold.
