Olympic and Jubilee Street Parties - will health and safety restrictions limit them?

Last summer we saw a flurry of press reports suggesting that street parties to celebrate the Royal Wedding were being banned because of concerns about health & safety.  Undoubtedly it is important that such events are planned with care to ensure that participants are safe, but these challenges are far from insurmountable.

It is therefore good to hear that Bracknell Forest Council not only share that view but have also taken the positive step of issuing a guide to explain exactly what organisers must do to ensure a safe and pleasant event for everyone.

It is to be hoped that other local authorities will follow suit and that unhelpful headlines about health & safety ruining the fun yet again may be avoided.
