On May 14, 2009, the Green Energy and Green Economy Act, 2009 came into force. The Act, which was introduced as Bill 150 in February 2009, outlines a number of initiatives intended to encourage renewable-source electricity generation in Ontario, including streamlining the process for obtaining environmental approvals for renewable energy projects.
