The Regulation on the Working Procedures and Principles of the Personal Data Protection Board (“Regulation”) was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force on 16 November 2017.

The Regulation set outs the duties, authorisations, procedures and principles of the Personal Data Protection Board.

The main duties of the board, among others, are as follows:

  1. Deciding on complaints made by those who claim that their personal data rights have been violated.
  2. Detecting and determining countries that provide sufficient protection for data transmission abroad.
  3. Regulating obligations in the area of data security and the authority, responsibilities and duties of data supervisors and their representatives.

The Regulation was prepared based on the Law on Data Protection No. 6698 (“Data Protection Law”).
