Earlier this month, the FCA issued a consultation on proposed guidance for annuity comparison websites. The consultation follows a recent review by the FCA of certain websites of this nature, which highlighted concerns as to the quality of information made available. Amongst other matters, the proposed guidance seeks to ensure that appropriate information and warnings appear on such websites to enable customers to make informed decisions (e.g. regarding the fact that the decision to purchase an annuity is usually final and can't be changed). Responses are invited until 14 March 2014.
