On October 18th, SEC Chairman Mary Jo White defended the SEC's Regulation D rule proposal which will require hedge funds to provide information about offerings conducted under Rule 506, including those that use general solicitation and advertising. "For investors' sake," White said, "we need to move expeditiously toward adoption, following appropriate consideration of the comments." White also remarked that the agency's inspection of private fund advisers will continue despite those who question their necessity. White Remarks.
