The Public Transport Regulation Act 2009 establishes a new framework for the licensing of commercial public bus passenger services and the introduction of new contractual arrangements for the procurement of public land transport services on a national basis. The Act contains amendments to the Taxi Regulation Act 2003, the Roads Act 1993 and 2007, the Road Traffic Act 1994, the Planning and Development Act 2000 and the Transport (Railway Infrastructure) Act 2001.
The Minister for Transport has now published an Order commencing certain provisions of the Act. The Minister has also published an Order under the Act appointing 1 December 2009 as the establishment date for the National Transport Authority. As a consequence the Minister has also published an Order dissolving the Dublin Transportation Office with effect from the same date.
