In Official Journal no. C-345 of December 18, 2010, a notice was published concerning the impending expiry of anti-dumping measures on certain footwear with uppers of leather originating in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Vietnam. The date of expiry is set at March 30, 2011, provided no review is initiated in accordance with the procedures laid down in the applicable legislation. The European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) recently confirmed that they will refrain from any actions, under the explicit condition that the EU closely monitors the footwear imports from respectively PRC and Vietnam. If no review is initiated (which is not certain at the moment of publication), anti-dumping measures of 16.5% (PRC) and 10% (Vietnam) will no longer apply on imports of certain leather upper footwear originating in these countries.
