The Bill was introduced into the Victorian Parliament on 5 August 2014 and proposes to amend the Tobacco Act 1987 (Vic) by banning smoking in specific outdoor areas and within the vicinity of certain pedestrian access points, including access points to schools, children’s play centres and Victorian public buildings.  The Bill would also further empower inspectors to monitor and investigate breaches of the Act.

The Bill aims to limit exposure to second-hand smoke, de-normalise smoking, minimise littering and generally improve public amenity.
