By Friday, October 10, all stations must file FCC Form 388, the DTV consumer education quarterly report, reporting the station's consumer education efforts during the third quarter of 2008. Pursuant to FCC rules adopted in March, all stations are required to air digital transition related PSAs, crawls and programs leading up to the digital transition on February 17, 2009. The Form 388 documenting these efforts is due on the tenth day after the end of each quarter of the year.

As was the case last quarter, Form 388 must be filed via the FCC's Consolidated DataBase System (CDBS).

Stations that have not filed the license application for their final digital facilities must file the FCC Form 387 (DTV Transition Status Report) no later than Monday, October 20. The requirement to file the Form 387 was adopted in the FCC's Third DTV Periodic Review Report and Order.

The previous Form 387 filing was due in mid-July. Stations that have still not filed license applications should update the July Form 387 filing with any new information concerning the station's digital transition plan and timetable for completing the transition.
