The 30th Telecommunications and Digital Economy Conference was held in Santander, Spain last month. The conference involved important public representatives from Spain and other European cities, as well as top executives from the technology sector who came together to discuss the digital economy and various developments in the telecommunications sector and analyze future trends.
This year, the event highlighted the role of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) as the driving force required for digital transformation. According to statements made by participants of Congress, Spain is now in an accelerated digitalization process. However, it is necessary to apply technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, big data and artificial intelligence, to all kinds of activities in order to materially contribute to the transformation of companies. In line with this, Spain has committed resources to cities and islands for digitalization projects placing the country in a leading position in the Smart Cities market.
