NY Fed Chief, who recently announced his early retirement, warns against looming deregulation. The New York Times reported that William C. Dudley, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, has announced that he will retire next year, six months before the end of his 10-year term. In a speech delivered at the Economic Club of New York, Mr. Dudley cautioned against making broad changes to the Dodd-Frank Act and specifically warned against watering down rules that require banks to hold extra capital to absorb unexpected losses. OSC Adopts Rules of Procedure and Practice Guideline. The OSC announcedthat it recently adopted the OSC Rules of Procedure and Forms and the Practice Guideline. The Rules and the Guideline apply to all proceedings where the OSC is required to hold a hearing, or to afford the parties an opportunity for a hearing, before making a decision. (11/7/2017)   

Regulators sign an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Services Regulatory Authority. The securities regulatory authorities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Québec and Saskatchewan announced a cooperation agreement with the FSRA of Abu Dhabi Global Market. The agreement will allow the participating jurisdictions and the FSRA to refer to one another innovative businesses seeking to enter the others’ markets. (11/2/2017)

Canadian securities regulators seek comment on approach to determining director and audit committee member independence. The CSA announced that it has published for comment CSA Consultation Paper 52-404 Approach to Director and Audit Committee Member Independence. Comments should be submitted in writing by January 25, 2018. (10/26/2017)
