There was much speculation as to Matthew Elderfield's likely successor as Deputy Governor, Financial Regulation of the Central Bank of Ireland after he stepped down last April. His replacement was finally revealed as Cyril Roux on 21 August 2013. Mr Roux has held the post of First Deputy Secretary General of the French prudential supervisory authority for banks and insurance companies (ACPR) since the authority was created in March 2010.

Mr Roux will take up his new role in the Central Bank on 1 October next.
