The Rail Safety (Adoption of National Law) Act 2012 (NSW) commenced on 20 January 2013.
The National Rail Safety Regulator (NRSR) has provided the Guidelines for Duty Holders on Transition to Rail Safety National Law to assist rail transport operators manage the transition process. To see a copy of this document, click here.
The changes with immediate effect include:
- the local regulator becomes a branch office of the NRSR;
- national policies and data analysis apply;
- application for accreditation and variation of accreditation are approved by the NRSR; and
- there will be a single contact number to report immediately reportable Category A notifiable offences.
