In October or November the FSA conducts an annual consultation on any proposed changes to the underlying policy on the fees that it charges to authorised firms and on the levies due to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

In November 2009 the FSA published Consultation Paper 09/26: Regulatory fees and levies: policy proposals for 2010/11 (CP09/26). In CP09/26 the FSA conducted its annual consultation on proposed policy changes to the fees and levy regimes. It also set out proposals arising out of the strategic review of the FSA fees regime.

The FSA has now published Consultation Paper 10/5: Regulatory fees and levies - Rates proposals 2010/11 and feedback statement on Part 1 of CP09/26 (CP10/5). In CP10/5 the FSA:

  • Provides feedback on the strategic review proposals in CP09/26.
  • Sets out consultation proposals on the fees and levy rates that it intends to raise for itself, the FSCS and the FOS in 2010/11.

The deadline for comments on some of the proposals is 12 March 2010 and for other proposals it is 12 April 2010. The FSA indicates in CP10/5 which deadlines apply to which proposals.
