On May 31st, the Treasury Department took a series of related actions to disrupt Iran's efforts to evade sanctions imposed on the Iranian regime. These actions, which were taken under a number of different authorities, apply sanctions to companies operating in several countries. On June 4th, the Treasury Department designated 37 affiliates of the "Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order," which control off-the-books investments, shielded from the view of the Iranian people and international regulators. On June 5th, Treasury Department designated six members of the El Salvadoran gang Mara Salvatrucha pursuant to Executive Order 13581, which targets transnational criminal organizations and their supporters. On June 6th, the Treasury Department designated a key improvised explosive device fabricator, ‘Abd-al-Hamid al-Masli, for acting for or on behalf of al-Qa'ida.
