• Employees at Mystic Seaport museum in Mystic, Connecticut voted 145- 90 against unionizing. The losing union was the American Federation of Teachers.
  • A unit of 250 registered nurses at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, Ohio voted to unionize with National Nurses United, which represents more than 13,000 registered nurses in 12 states.
  • Employees of Vision Pro in Brooklyn and Falcon Data Communications Inc., two Cablevision Systems Corp. contractor companies, in Yonkers, New York, voted in favor of unionizing with Communications Workers of America (“CWA”). The 56 employee bargaining unit at Vision Pro and 69 worker unit at Falcon Data are the most recent to join the union, which, since the beginning of 2012, has added more than 400 cable technicians in the New York area to its membership.
  • Employees of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland voted for representation by the Cleveland Casino Workers Council, a four-union alliance of the United Auto Workers, UNITE HERE, the United Steelworkers, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (“IBT”). The casino, which opened in May 2012 under the management of Caesars Entertainment Corp., remained neutral during organizing efforts. The wall-to-wall bargaining unit covers about 1,050 workers at the casino. The four-union alliance announced it plans to go after workers at three other new casinos in Ohio, including another Horseshoe casino in Cincinnati scheduled to open in spring 2013.
