On 17 May 2013, the CBI issued an update on its on-going investigation into the sales of payment protection insurance (PPI) policies. Following a request from the Central Bank, ten firms had previously notified their customers (captured by the firm's PPI review) that they would be kept updated. Those firms have now begun the process of communicating the outcome of their review to customers who purchased their PPI during July 2007. All other PPI customers included in their review will be contacted by the firms during 2013. The Central Bank has stated that it will continually monitor the firms' progress in this regard. The Financial Services Ombudsman (FSO) has acknowledged the Central Bank's update and issued a reminder that, if a customer is dissatisfied with the outcome of the review, they may make a complaint to the FSO.
