In a February 5, 2014 letter signed by every member of the Senate Finance Committee (13 Democrats; 11 Republicans), Committee members “strongly urge[d]” CMS not to finalize proposed Part D changes that would reduce the number of “protected classes” of drugs under the Part D prescription drug benefit, citing concerns that the proposed change would result in decreased beneficiary access to medications used to treat mental health problems. We previously reported on CMS’s proposed Part D changes in our January 13, 2014 edition of Health Headlines, available here.
