Since 1 August 2016, a so-called electronic mailbox is an obligation for every Slovak company. Upon a first login or alternatively on 31 December 2016 it is activated automatically. The electronic mailbox is embedded within the Central Portal of the Public Administration (

From 01 January 2017 all submissions/filings and official documents from public authorities will be solely delivered into the electronic mailbox. Such delivery will have the same legal implications like a postal delivery.

Only the statutory body/member of the company or a person authorized by him/her (e.g. an attorney) will be granted access to the electronic mailbox. Access requires (i.) a Slovak ID card with an electronic chip (eID card) and an activated online eID function, (ii.) a special card reader and (iii.) the installation of the appropriate software.
