Asbestos lawyer Daniel Easton has successfully settled a significant claim for compensation for a former shipping engineer who developed mesothelioma, a deadly asbestos related cancer.

Our client worked for P & O in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. He worked on and around pipes and other materials that were insulated with asbestos which was disturbed by maintenance work, and even by the vibrations of the engines when the ship was at sea. He was provided with asbestos materials to carry out repairs, but given no protective equipment, and never warned about the deadly properties of asbestos which became public knowledge in the mid-1960’s, well before our client started work.

Unfortunately, our client developed chest symptoms in late 2015 which led to his diagnosis with mesothelioma in February 2016. He contacted Daniel Easton, a partner specialising in asbestos disease cases, for advice shortly afterwards and Daniel dealt with his case from start to finish in just over six months, including obtaining the input of six separate witnesses, three experts and a leading barrister. Importantly, the settlement will allow our client to investigate further medical treatment, including ground-breaking immunotherapy which is not presently available on the NHS.
