The International Organization of Securities Commissions identified two Fintech topics – cryptoassets and artificial intelligence and machine learning – among the five priories in its 2020 work program. In 2020, IOSCO intends to issue a final report on issues, risks and regulatory considerations regarding trading platforms for cryptoassets; continue to develop a “support framework” to assist its member address domestic and cross-border issues related to initial coin offerings; and report on regulatory issues concerning global stablecoins. IOSCO also intends to consult and issue a final report of the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning by intermediaries and asset managers. IOSCO additionally plans to address market fragmentation, passive investing and index providers and retail distribution digitization in 2020. IOSCO is the principal international policy forum for securities and derivatives regulators worldwide.
