The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) announced earlier this week that Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary , and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Associates, Inc., an affiliated physician group practice (collectively “MEEI”) have agreed to pay $1.5 million and enter into a three-year Corrective Action Plan (CAP) to settle potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule.
