The annual increase to Employment Tribunal award limits was covered in our January E-Bulletin. All employers should now be aware of the following changes which took effect from 1 February 2011:-
- The maximum unfair dismissal compensatory award increases from £65,300 to £68,400.
- The maximum for a week's pay (used to calculate statutory redundancy payments and the basic award) increases from £380 to £400
This now means that the maximum unfair dismissal award (made up of the maximum basic award plus the maximum compensatory award) will be £80,400 from 1 February.
