The Ministry of Justice has published its Corporate Plan for 2009-11, which includes proposals to implement judicial mediation in Employment Tribunals.
The stated man aims of these proprosals is to:
- Ensure that litigatants receive advice and support an early stage so they can make infomed decisions on whether to proceed with their dispute or to seek to resolve it though another means; and
- Deliver a more efficient process that allows for both costs savings and earlier resolution of disputes.
Although the Plan does not make it clear how this proposal is to be implemented, it does refer to working with Directgov, the government website for public services, to develop new web content on civil justice that will inform the wider public of their available options, including the court process and alternative dispute resolution processes.
The Plan can be found here and paragraph 49 refers to the proposed judicial mediation in Employment Tribunals.
