FOS has written to claims management companies and financial services practitioners who have submitted complaints to it about current account charges. It explains the effect of FSA’s waiver, which allows banks to put complaints on hold pending the outcome of the High Court action, but also lets them progress complaints where the consumer is suffering genuine financial hardship. FOS explains its process and how it is important it gets full information about the customers and their circumstances. This has not always been the case. FOS has also updated its FAQs about bank charges.
