The Senate has unanimously passed a bill, sponsored by Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), that will ban the import and export of asbestos. The proposed ban will prohibit importing, manufacturing, processing and distributing asbestos containing products. If the bill passes through the House and is approved by the president, it will be enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If passed, the United States will join 40 other countries that have banned asbestos.
