On 16 November 2012, Ofcom published a statement confirming their strategy for the future of the 700 MHz band. Ofcom have stated that they will support the international process that is seeking to enable the harmonised release of the 700 MHz for mobile broadband use. In the UK, the 700 MHz band is currently used for national digital terrestrial television (DTT). Ofcom have stated that they will seek to ensure that the DTT platform can access the neighbouring 600 MHz band.
