The Government has announced that its new Health and Work Service will be launched in late 2014 and will be delivered by Health Management, a MAXIMUS company, one of the largest occupational health providers in the UK.  The new Health and Work Service will provide state funded occupational health assessments to employees who are off sick for four or more weeks and is part of the Government's intention to help employees and employers manage sickness absence better, and reduce the length of time that employees are absent from work on sickness absence.  A tax exemption of up to GBP500 a year per employee for payments for medical treatments recommended by the Health and Work Service or an employer-arranged occupational health service will also be introduced.  A copy of the Government's announcement can be found HERE.
