The Commission has approved the acquisition of Swedish company Securitas Direct AB by the Channel Islands based private equity fund EQT V Ltd. One of EQT’s portfolio companies is a Danish facility management company called ISS. Securitas and ISS overlap in the installation and maintenance of alarms and the provision of remote alarm monitoring and response services in Finland. The merged entity would have a substantial share in the market to domestic customers. The Commission found that competition would not be significantly impeded as Securitas focuses on the corporate market and ISS the domestic one. In addition to low entry barriers for new companies to enter the Finnish market, there are currently active a number of other international security companies and a large number of local companies to ensure consumer choice.
