NCVHS will hold a two-day meeting on the "meaningful use" of HIT on April 28th and 29th. The meeting will be held in Washington, D.C. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) will make introductory comments and Harry Reynolds, Chair of NCVHS, will also lead some of the discussion.

The meeting will focus on quality reporting, health information exchange, population/public health, and the capacity and functionality of electronic health records. A few of the sessions will focus on the importance of "meaningful use" in relation to HIT product certification, and panelists will aid vendors, providers, and others in understanding how to reach HIT goals by 2011.
