The Working Holiday work permit program for Australians coming to Canada has been expanded. Starting in 2008, there will no longer be a quota on the number of available work permits. Furthermore, the 12 month time cap will be removed starting in 2008. Australians using the program will be able to obtain a work permit for up to 24 months and may access the program on more then one occasion. The changes therefore overcome some of the limitations of the current program. These changes will benefit Canadian employers, especially B.C. and Alberta employers in the hospitality, tourism and seasonal sectors. Australians currently in Canada under 12 month working holiday visas should be able to obtain another 12 month work permit.
