On the 26th July, Doug Collins gave a special mention to Alibaba, saying that the Alibaba Group is doing its utmost to combat counterfeiting. He went so far as to state that their policies and programs - where they look into the manufacturing, distribution and supply chain, as well as use technologies and algorithms to scan and detect counterfeits is "significantly more effective than any of their US counterparts" or competitors like Amazon, eBay and Walmart. Indeed, most counterfeit items are removed before they even get on the platform, whilst products with an abnormal number of customer complaints are put on high alert.

The Alibaba Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance, Alibaba’s IPR protection body that was established in 2017, has seen its membership rise from 30 to 132 and now includes luxury brands such as Richemont, Burberry and Louis Vuitton.
