ESMA has published a letter from the Commission containing a revised request for ESMA’s technical advice on the equivalence of third country supervisory systems in respect of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR). The Commission originally asked for ESMA’s advice in October 2012. It has decided to extend the deadline for ESMA’s response to enable it to consider recent international initiatives. Now it wants advice on Japan and the US by 15 June 2013 and on all other relevant jurisdictions by 15 July. (Source: Commission Writes to ESMA on EMIR Equivalence)
