Earlier this month, the Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Co-Operatives in Europe announced the formation of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA). Amongst the 31 founding members of GFIA (thought to represent 87% of the global insurance industry) are the Dublin International Insurance & Management Association (DIMA), The Association of British Insurers and Insurance Europe. It is envisaged that GFIA will provide active commentary on matters affecting the international insurance industry, and will only issue position papers where agreement is reached by all members.
