White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Chair Nancy Sutley said on June 21 that as part of the administration’s Renewable Energy Response Team’s initiative, federal officials will be “on call” to address permitting and sitting problems for renewable energy team. The White House said the goal of the initiative is to help develop the Smart Grid through enhanced federal coordination and ensured timely overview of proposed renewable projects. The agencies involved include: the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service, the Department of Energy, and the CEQ.
