On 11 June 2014, the COAG Reform Council released its final report on the National Healthcare Agreement. The report summarises the performance of all governments over the past 5 years against the target outcomes in the Agreement.
The report reveals that (overall) Australians have among the longest life expectancies in the world and (generally) benefit from high quality health systems.
The report highlights the progress made in the key areas of life expectancy, smoking and child deaths. However, the report also notes 6 key areas of ongoing concern, including obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, longer waiting lists for elective surgery and Australia’s ageing population.
