Mohammed al-Dahabi, formerly chief of intelligence in Jordan, has been setenced to 13 years and three months' imprisonment for embezzlement, money laundering and abuse of office. Al-Dahabi was also fined 21 million Jordanian dinars (approximatey £18.7 million). The prosecution of such a high profile official is relatively rare and is seen as an indication of Jordan's seriousness in tackling corruption and graft.
