FLORIDA - November 21, 2016 - The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a revised version of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9. Employers are prohibited from hiring anyone for employment in the United States unless the person’s identity and employment authorization has been verified on Form I-9.
Starting January 22, 2017, employers must use only the new version of the Form I-9. The current version or the new version can be used until then. This new version is a “smart” version as it is easier to complete on a computer. There are drop-down lists and calendars for filling in dates and on-screen instructions for each field. The new Form I-9 can be found at: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9.
