Fiji has signed an interim Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the E.U. The agreement provides immediate duty-free access for products from Fiji to the E.U. markets. It also deepens cooperation in areas like animal and plant health to help enable Fiji to meet E.U. import standards. As part of the agreement, Fiji will remove customs duties on 87 percent of their imports from the E.U. over the next 15 years. The interim EPA is seen as a stepping stone to a broader agreement with all African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.
