The limits on the amounts payable in the employment tribunal are set to increase from 1 February 2009. From that date the cap on a week's pay for the purpose of calculating statutory redundancy payments and the basic award for unfair dismissal will go up from £330 to £350.
The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will rise from £63,000 to £66,350
The amount payable by way of a guarantee payment (ie when an employer cannot provide work on a particular day) will go up from £20.40 to £21.50.
Finally, the minimum amount payable when a dismissal is unfair on account of a connection with a health & safety, employee representative, trade union or occupational pension trustee reason, will increase from £4,400 to £4,700.
