The Department of State has released its Visa Bulletin, outlining the availability of immigrant visa numbers for July 2009. For employment-based immigrant visa petitions, visa numbers are available for all nationalities in the first-preference category.
For the second-preference category, visa numbers are available for all foreign nationals except for those from China and India. The cut off date for both Chinese and Indian nationals in the second preference category is January 1, 2000.
A recent retrogression is reflected in the unavailability of visa numbers for all countries for the third preference category.
Currently, there are no immigrant visa numbers available for religious workers.
