On September 12, 2012, Sen. John “Jay” Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, and Ranking Member Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Tex., attended the first meeting of the Science, Technology and Policy Forum in Washington, DC. The purpose of the Forum is “to elevate the role of science and technology in government.” Of the Forum, Sen. Rockefeller stated “There is much more that we can do to bring science and the hard analysis of the scientific community into the decision making realm of Congress.
