A carbon capture project in Norway has been granted an aid exemption by the European Union. The Mongstad project, which is a joint venture between StatoilHydro, Vattenfall, DONG Energy, Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Norsk Hydro, would typically be eligible to receive only 50 percent of its funds from the Norwegian government. The EU public aid exemption will allow the project to receive 80 percent of the funding from the Norwegian government.
