The Portland Legal Disputes practice study, “Who uses the Commercial Court?”, by the Portland communications firm, looked at trends in nationalities of litigants represented in the Commercial Court of England and Wales and found a steep increase in the number of litigants from the Middle East and North Africa using the Commercial Court. The research also found that over three-quarters of litigants using the Commercial Court are foreign, with the highest regional representation from Europe and Eurasia. The  study recorded the nationality of the parties’ involved in 141 judgements from the Commercial Court between April 2013 and March 2014, and compared the results to the 705 judgements between March 2008 and March 2013 analysed in the previous year’s study. commercial-court-2014/
