In keeping with tradition, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) will be shutting its doors for business for a number of days over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
The OHIM will be closed on will be closed on the following dates:
Thursday 24th December 2015
Friday 25th December 2015
Monday 28th December 2015
Friday 1st January 2016
Any official deadline or priority claim that falls on or between 24th December 2015, and up to 3rd January 2016 inclusive, will be carried forward to 4th January 2016.
The OHIM will be closed again on 6th January 2016 and will reopen on 7th January 2016. If an official deadline or priority claim falls on 6th January 2016, the deadline will be carried forward to 7th January 2016.
Nevertheless, where a CTM or an RCD application is received electronically during the Christmas/ New Year closure, the filing date will be the date that the application is received by the OHIM. For example, if an application is filed electronically on 26th December 2015, while the OHIM is closed, the filing date will be 26th December 2015.
For your convenience, we have set out the following summary:
- OHIM official deadline or priority claim on or between 24th December 2015 and 3rd January 2016; date moves to 4th January
- CTM Application is filed electronically on or between 24th December 2015 and 4th January 2016.
- Filing date is actual date of receipt by the OHIM — e.g. an application filed electronically on 24th December 2015 obtains that filing date, even though the Office is closed.
