The British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association recently released an “Agenda for Justice,” which calls upon the Government of BC to enact franchise legislation in that province in order to provide protection to small business franchisees. Currently, British Columbia is Canada’s most populous province without franchisespecific legislation in place.

In response, the British Columbia Law Institute has issued the Consultation Paper on a Franchise Act for British Columbia “to obtain input from franchisors, franchisees, business and consumer organizations and the general public on the proposed legislation to govern franchising.” For more information, or to download the document, please click here.
