Responding to objections raised by advocacy groups the American Bird Conservancy and the Black Swamp Bird Observatory, the National Guard Bureau at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ottawa County, said yesterday that a plan to install a 198-foot, commercial-scale wind turbine has been "suspended indefinitely," The Blade reports. The advocacy groups gathered 5,000 signatures on a petition opposing the project, arguing that it "would violate the Endangered Species Act and other conservation and environmental laws" by endangering "migratory birds because of its proximity to western Lake Erie."
