Canada Post has issued a 72-hour lockout notice to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.  Employees will be locked out as of Friday, July 8, 2016.

Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) are reminding firms that they are still bound by their document delivery requirements in lieu of the nationwide postal disruption.  To ensure all CSA registrants continue to meet their document delivery requirements, alternative steps should be taken to ensure all documents normally delivered by Canada Post are delivered using other means.

The CSA will not provide relief of any kind to its document delivery requirements.  As such, it is the registrant’s responsibility to ensure it complies with any document delivery requirements it is bound by.  The most efficient method of delivering documents is via electronic delivery; however, if this is not possible, registrants may use courier services.  Efforts should be made to co-ordinate the delivery of documents between registrants and CSA staff to ensure the method of delivery to be used will be accepted.
