In November the federal government issued sweeping new regulations to require almost all federal contractors to participate in the government's controversial E-Verify program. For more information on the E-Verify regulation, please click here. On December 23rd, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other representative organizations filed a federal lawsuit against the government over its federal contractor E-Verify program. Because the lawsuit was just recently filed, the court has not yet acted on the complaint. However, we believe there is a good possibility that the court will enjoin the implementation of the E-Verify regulation that is scheduled to take effect January 15, 2009.
